Johnny Depp as a vampire!

A minor joy in my life for the past year and a half has been getting to tell someone the news. Turns out, Depp (like yours truly) was a huge fan of the gothic soap opera "Dark Shadows" and his production company bought the rights to it. Now Tim Burton is slated to direct, with Seth Grahame-Smith ("Abraham Lincoln, Vampire Slayer") as screenwriter, Colleen Atwood ("Alice in Wonderland" "Silence of the Lambs" etc.) designing costumes and Bruno Delbonnel ("Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" "Across The Universe") as director of photography. The schedule says filming begins in April, with a release in 2012 -- by which time we'll have had one more "Twilight" movie, another season of "True Blood" and be watching a third season of "The Vampire Diaries."

David Slade To Direct Vampire Horror Flick ‘The Last Voyage Of The Demeter’

I’m going to go ahead and assume that directorDavid Slade is crazy in love with vampires since he has filmed two vampire flicks in a row and is now working on a third – "The Last Voyage of the Demeter."

Slade, who directed the vampire horror "30 Days of Night" and the vampire bore "Twilight Saga: Eclipse," is set to tackle the bloodthirsty genre again with Phoenix Pictures' "The Last Voyage of the Demeter," a movie that’s been 10 years in the making.
I’m sure you all recognize the name "Demeter" for it was the name of the ship in Bram Stoker’s legendary novel “Dracula.” The very ship Dracula boarded to cross the seas from Transylvania to London, which is what this upcoming film is about. According to sources "The Last Voyage of the Demeter" will cover just that, Dracula’s voyage. The movie will be about a strange passenger, mysterious deaths and the one last raving-mad survivor. While I’m not sure how they’re going to manage to turn that into an entire movie, I’m still pretty geeked about it, it’s definitely a movie I’ll be checking out.

New Priest Trailer

Check out the newest trailer for the cool looking vampire action movie: Priest!

“True Blood” fanatic policeman goes wacko

In an incident which has caused real Vampi(y)res yet more discomfort, a news report today tells of how a man repeatedly bit the neck of a 3 year old child in his care – and then blamed the whole thing on an episode of “True Blood” which he had been watching with the boy.

According to Sheboygan Press, Police report that a man who watched ‘True Blood’ left bites on the neck of a three year old boy left in his care by the mother. Mark R. Adams Jr. is in trouble with the cops for making three bite marks on the neck of a 3-year-old boy he was babysitting. Adams claimed he was “playing vampire” after watching True Blood with the boy.

In this case, however, Adams doesn’t appear to be claiming to be an actual vampire. He’s just saying he and the boy were watching an age restricted show which happens to feature sex, blood and vampires, and he was only “goofing around” when he bit the boy on his neck. Three times.
It will be interesting to see how critics of the Vampi(y)re Community, eager to complain about the attention vampires and “the occult” receive on TV, take this incident up.
